R.I.D.E in Normandy 2007 - Four-in-a-hand driving competition

Presentation of the Four-in-a-hand driving competitions

R.I.D.E. in Normandy 2007

The most important changes will be in the four-in-a-hand driving competition: out with dressage and in with speed. The competition will open with the obstacle driving test, then the 1st round of the marathon, followed by an indoor type marathon on the main arena, and on the fourth day a 2nd marathon round but a faster one, as drivers will be familiar with the course.

Presentation of the obstacle driving test - Thursday September 20th

The first competition will be a timed cone course in the main arena. Carriages must zigzag through gates, starting blocks with balls on the top. Any dislodging of balls is considered a fault and is sanctioned by a 5 second penalty.

Presentation of the Marathon - Friday September 21st and Sunday September 23rd

R.I.D.E. in Normandy 2007

The 1st round of the Marathon, standing starting signal with 6 obstacles, will be a pleasant introduction to the event. The obstacles included will permit rapid clearing and strong sensations are guaranteed. The route will be timed with 5 breaks (clock stopped) of 2 mins 30 secs to join the following obstacle. All coefficients are equal and these rules will increase the suspense in this event.

The indoor type Marathon- Saturday September 22nd

Speed test against the clock, it is a course with a maximum of 18 to 20 gates, including a bridge and 2 marathon type obstacles. Each fault is 5" penalty, a turnover obstacle brings elimination.
